UCT Press applies Book Processing Charges (BPCs) solely to cover the costs associated with the production of open access books. These charges do not include expenses related to marketing activities, such as book launches, nor does UCT Press apply any mark-up to generate profit.

Recognising that reliance on BPCs is not a sustainable long-term model for open access publishing, additional funding will be used to support the publication of works by non-UCT authors, enhance metadata management, and strengthen the marketing and visibility of the Press.
